Congratulations to Cathy Wangerin on being selected the Onslow County Women of the year in a ceremony by the Chamber of Commerce. President of the Chamber, Mona Padrick said Wangerin’s philosophy “that the community in which one lives and raises a family is only as good as you make it” made her the “unanimous and enthusiastic” choice to receive the award.
Wangerin, who serves as vice president of fundraising at United Way in Onslow County, said she was honored by the selection.
“It’s really hard not to be involved in something you truly believe in,” Wangerin said tearfully after she accepted her award. “I do the things that I do because I want to set an example for my children and to let them know you only have to take a small step to make a huge difference.”
